Rotterdam Dockers and Belfast Wolves Share Points

Rain once again had the final say in the ETPL as Rotterdam Dockers and Belfast Wolves were forced to settle for a point apiece after their Match 6 clash at Sportpark Westvliet was abandoned without a result.

After delays caused by the wet outfield and rain, Belfast Wolves won the toss and elected to bat first, looking to put a competitive total on the board before the conditions deteriorated further.

The Wolves reached 156 for nine from their 20 overs, with Devon Conway providing the foundation at the top of the order. The New Zealand batter made 41 from 29 deliveries, striking four fours and a six, while Harry Manenti contributed a composed 30 from 28 balls.

Mark Chapman added further impetus with 29 from 21 balls, including three fours and a six. Despite wickets falling regularly, Belfast managed to push their total beyond 150.

The major highlight of Rotterdam's bowling effort was Anrich Nortje, who produced a sensational spell of five wickets for just 11 runs from his four overs. The South African quick repeatedly disrupted Belfast's progress, claiming five of the Wolves' nine wickets and finishing with an exceptional economy rate of 2.75.

David Wiese also made a significant contribution with the ball, taking three wickets for 40 runs, as Rotterdam kept Belfast from finishing with an even larger total.

With 157 required for victory, the Dockers began their chase with Michael Levitt and captain Faf du Plessis at the crease. However, the second innings lasted only one over before the rain returned.

Mark Adair bowled the opening over for Belfast, conceding five runs. Du Plessis struck the only boundary of the over, while Levitt remained unbeaten on one. With the weather showing no signs of improving sufficiently to resume play, the match was eventually abandoned.

For Belfast, the result will feel frustrating after recovering from a challenging start with the bat and producing moments of quality through Conway, Manenti and Chapman. For Rotterdam, Nortje's remarkable five-wicket spell and Wiese's 3 wickets were the defining individual performances of the contest.
