Few English batters have made a greater impact on the modern white-ball game than Jason Roy. A naturally aggressive right-hander, Roy built his reputation around attacking the powerplay and putting bowlers under pressure from the outset, becoming a key figure in England's transformation into one of the world's most formidable ODI sides. His most defining international achievement came in the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where he scored 443 runs as England lifted the trophy.
It is in T20 cricket, however, where Roy's experience is particularly valuable. With more than 400 T20 appearances and over 10,000 runs in the format, he has spent much of his career moving between some of the world's leading franchise competitions. His journey has included the IPL with Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils/Capitals, the PSL with Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators, the Big Bash with Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers, as well as stints in the Caribbean Premier League, SA20, ILT20, The Hundred and Major League Cricket. He has also continued to produce in recent seasons, scoring 473 runs at a strike rate of 154.58 in the 2026 Vitality Blast.
That breadth of T20 experience gives Glasgow Cosmic a player accustomed to different conditions, bowling attacks and franchise environments. Roy knows how to maximise the powerplay, but his years in T20 cricket have also exposed him to the tactical demands of the format – when to attack, when to consolidate and how to finish an innings. With more than a decade of elite white-ball cricket behind him, his experience could be one of Cosmic's biggest assets in the inaugural ETPL season.
