Widely regarded as one of the finest spin bowlers of his generation, Ashwin has redefined the role of an off-spinner across all formats through constant innovation, exceptional game awareness and an ability to outthink the world's best batters.

Born on 17 September 1986 in Chennai, India, Ashwin first rose to prominence in T20 cricket with Chennai Super Kings, where his variations, accuracy and fearless approach helped the franchise win multiple titles. His success in the shortest format laid the foundation for a legendary international career that saw him become one of India's greatest-ever wicket-takers.

In T20 Internationals, Ashwin featured in 65 matches, claiming 72 wickets at an economy rate of just over 6.9 while consistently delivering in pressure situations. He played a pivotal role in India's run to the 2014 ICC Men's T20 World Cup final, finishing as one of the tournament's leading wicket-takers, and was also part of India's triumphant 2011 ODI World Cup squad.

Beyond the international arena, Ashwin has enjoyed an outstanding franchise career, claiming well over 300 wickets across the IPL and other T20 competitions. Equally capable of bowling in the powerplay, through the middle overs or at the death, he has remained one of the format's most dependable spin bowlers for more than a decade.
