The Netherlands return to action in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 in Canada later tonight against perpetually improving USA. This will be the Netherlands' first match since their final game at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup against India earlier this year in Ahmedabad. There might not be 100,000 plus spectators on this occasion, but the Dutch will not lack any motivation to hit back. Memories of their humiliating 93 run loss to the Americans in Chennai at the last edition of the men's T20 World Cup will still be fresh in their memories.

With crucial points at stake the Netherlands will look to build on their spotless 3-0 head-to-head record against the USA in ODI cricket, as the two sides face off at King City Ontario later tonight (4:30 PM CET). USA go into this encounter as current table toppers with 40 points from 29 games, while the Dutch find themselves in fourth place with 28 points from 24 matches.

With the European T20 Premier League just around the corner, some of the players lining up on opposite sides in Canada could soon be sharing a dressing room all summer long. For a handful of them, the Canadian leg could mark their final competitive clash before becoming teammates, adding a fascinating edge to what is already a high-stakes encounter.

The ETPL will provide a platform for the Dutch national team to further hone their skills under pressure in a fast-paced, high pressure tournament, with world class coaches and team owners giving them advice that will cultivate the habit and desire to win.

Steve Waugh, the co-owner of the Amsterdam Franchise is one of the most successful and renowned players to ever wield a bat and he has World Cup winning captain Mitchell Marsh as his team captain.

The Rotterdam franchise is led by Faf du Plessis (co-owner and captain), known to be one of the most competitive people in cricket with experience in leadership across the highest levels that competitive franchise cricket has to offer. Joining du Plessis is his Protea teammate Heinrich Klaasen.
